Aesthetics. Functionality. Durability. Service. These are the qualities she says the Germany- headquartered SieMatic has built a reputation worldwide. The family-owned company introduced the frst handle-free cabinet in 1960 and continues to be an innovative industry leader. SieMatic is also proud of its record in sustainability and holds certifcation from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). It also exceeds the statutory standards of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), and its products and processes contribute to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifcation. "Building relationships is also extremely important," adds Norton. "We take our time with individual clients, getting to know their personality and what they're hoping to achieve in their home." "We think that SieMatic came up with a home-run design, aesthetically, to ft a space that only cooperated reluctantly," says Ed. "But it's much more than that," says Clare. "It's a very functional kitchen that we can work in, together or separately. The cabinets spill over into the living room—something that had to happen, both to accommodate the apartment's HVAC mechanics as well as to provide adequate cabinet space—but it doesn't look odd at all to have part of the kitchen cabinets protruding into the living room. And because the dining room is open to the kitchen, we wanted a design that would make the kitchen 'disappear' while we and our guests are sitting around the table after dinner. A higher-than-normal countertop helps with that." "SieMatic really delivered with a very functional kitchen that fts the space, overcame the limits the space presented and is a work of art, too," says Ed with a smile. 2 Sandy Scott debra Paysinger ron Chamberlain F O R M O R E I N F O R M AT I O N Siematic 444 King St. Charleston, SC 29403 (843) 724 5838 siematic-charleston.com Wendy Swat Snyder is a Charleston-based freelance writer and PR consultant.
